I I was born on June 20, 1935 in Tunis.
My childhood and adolescence were spent under the generous sun of Tunisia and Algeria.
Then, studies in Paris, military service in Algeria and industry.
And what about music in all this?
Nothing, or very little. The 1940s left little room for passion. After the war, it was far too late to consider musical studies.
So, most of my career took place at Thomson; Spacelab, USSR-Europe Gas Pipeline, all exciting industrial adventures.
Not to mention a foray into institutional communication which allowed me to get to know the world of images and graphics.
As I grew older, retirement naturally presented itself and the leisure time that I had once been sparingly given suddenly became very generous.
So, let the music begin!
Not so simple!
Playing the piano is one thing, wanting to fill a staff with notes is another.
So I'm tackling musical literature, Koechelin, Dubois...
I came away interested but discouraged. Tonal harmony is difficult, very difficult indeed!
A young student from the CNSM in Paris in the orchestral conducting class then helps me clear the path.
To simplify the task of writing and free myself from the constraints of tonality, I devised a tonally neutral system. From now on, my musical adventure could truly begin and continue.
In 2001, I wrote, composed and orchestrated an oratorio, Genesis , the first part of the trilogy The Human Condition .
In 2006, my partner and I moved to the Montpellier region, where I met Élisabeth Joudrier, choirmaster of the Accroche-Chœur choral ensemble, and Franck Fontcouberte, musical director of the Contrepoint orchestral ensemble. Genèse was accepted and included in the program for the 2009 season.
After Genesis , other concerts followed, the Songs of Bilitis in 2011, Cain , second part of La Condition humaine , in 2012. The third part, La Loi , was created in June 2015.
After The Law, I explored, not without difficulty, the immense field of orchestral music: concertos for violin, piano, symphonic poems such as Hopper and My Seasons.
This will be followed by a narrative opera, Tristan based on ancient texts.
My meeting with Alain Roudier, organologist and pianist, was decisive for chamber music; The Marine Cemetery after Paul Valéry, Legends of Hérault, Trio for strings and piano.
Works written or in the process of being written will, I hope, have the chance to find an audience.
To listen to the excerpts offered in the following pages, I recommend using good headphones, as computer speakers are generally not very flattering.
